Girls beat boys in CBSE exams; Goa records 98.37 per cent

More than 94 per cent of girls and 90.40 per cent of boys were successful, both bettering previous years' figures, officials said here today.

The Chennai region, comprising Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Daman and Diu, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Maharashtra, Puducherry and Tamil Nadu, also recorded a near ten year high of 92.06 per cent.

Goa, from where 301 out of 306 students passed, bettered previous year's record of 97.28 per cent last year.
Karnataka (96.40 per cent) and Tamil Nadu (95.02 per cent)were the other toppers in the list.
Maximum number of students had appeared from Kerala where 23,360 students out of the 25,114 students, who took the exam, passed, registering a pass percentage of 93.02.

A total of 54,000 students appeared in the Chennai region for the Class XII exams, of which 49,711 passed,registering a pass percentage of 92.06.
