JOIN USA 23-year-old youth allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his house in Chickpet police limits on Sunday night.
Raju, a native of Kalludevanahalli in Nagamangala taluk, had been working at Nandish Upahar, a hotel in Chickpet, for the last four years. According to police, Raju had come to the City five years ago in search of work. He had lost his father recently and his efforts to marry his sister’s daughter had failed. Members of his family told police that Raju was depressed over these setbacks.
The owner of the hotel, who had rented a house nearby to accommodate his workers, told police Raju returned to the house after work late on Sunday night. “He went inside the kitchen while others were asleep and hanged himself from a hook in the ceiling using a rope. The incident came to light on Monday morning when other workers woke up and went inside the kitchen,” police said.
The body was handed over to the family after a postmortem was conducted at Victoria Hospital.
