Bharatanatyam dancer Sathyanarayana Raju will present Rama Katha on December 22, 7.30 pm at ADA Rangamandira.

Rama Katha will take one briefly through some of the facets of Rama’s relationships. A solo thematic presentation is a challenge for any dancer. Having to portray multiple characters, switching from one to the other instantly, keeping the essence of each character intact and displaying all this with verve is not an easy task.

Sathyanarayana Raju has attempted to take the audience on a journey into the
life and relationships of Rama.

Some of the relationships and characters that have been included are — Kouslya (the mother), Sita, Dasharatha, his devotees Hanuman, Guha and Sabari and his prime enemy Ravana.

Some of the lyrics are from compositions by great saint poets like Hanuman Deva, Yentani Ne Varnintune etc. Some interlinking lyrics have been written and composed by DS Srivatsa.
The dance choreography is by Sathyanarayana Raju while the concept and coordination is by Usha RK.

It is with enormous effort, hard work, dedication and practice that Sathyanarayana Raju has made a mark in this world of dance that is monopolised by the feminine gender.

He has been amalgamating the intrinsic elements of bharatanatyam, nritta and
abhinaya, with sobriety and dignity resulting in exquisite performances.
