Upper hand for Appaji Gowda group in Vokkaligara Sangha polls

The syndicate led by ophthalmologist Dr Appaji Gowda has gained the upper hand by winning seven out of the 35 seats of directors in the recently held elections to the Vokkaligara Sangha. The complete results of the keenly fought elections were announced on Friday.

The incumbent president P Kenchappa Gowda and two sitting legislators have lost the elections. MLA A Manju and MLC Ramakrishna, who had contested from Kodagu and Mandya districts respectively have lost the polls. 

However, Shravanabelagola legislator C N Balakrishna emerged victorious.

Winners

The following is the list of the victorious candidates from Bangalore: Dr Appaji Gowda, Ullur Manjunath, Prof M Nagaraj, H C Jayamuthu, A Devegowda, K Krishnamurthy, Channapatna M A Anand, H V Ashwath, Jalahalli A Ravi, A Prasad, Acchegowda Shivanna, Prof K Mallaiah, Dr Nisarga D C Kalegowda, B Mune Gowda.

Those elected from other districts are: N Prasanna, Dr K Mahadev and P Venkatesh (Mysore); D N Bettegowda, Dr B C Bommaiah, H M Narayanamurthy and Dr B Shivalingaiah (Mandya); Ramu, N Ramesh and Sathish (Kolar); C N Shashikiran and G L Narendra Babu (Tumkur); Dr Manohar (Chitradurga); H K Shekar (Kodagu); Dr K V Renuka Prasad (Dakshina Kannada); D V Ramesh (Shimoga) and J Nagaraj (Chikmagalur).
