Residents of Vivekananda Layout, here, interrupted works on the Bypass Road and staged a protest demonstration, alleging that the negligence of the officials of the Karnataka Road Development Corporation Limited (KRDCL) was the cause for their water woes, on Thursday.

Town Panchayat members Pramod Muthappa and H J Kariappa, who led the protestors, said, water supply to Vivekananda Layout and Kalamma Layout has been affected as the officials concerned have not repaired the water pipeline and power supply line, which have been damaged due to ongoing works.

They said, the residents are suffering since three months when the works on the Konanuru-Makutta state highway was taken up. The protesters picked up an argument with the contractor and demanded that the services be resumed immediately.

The agitators said, even though several complaints have been lodged with the urban development and water supply officials in this regard, no action has been taken yet.
