Heavy rains lash parts of Puttur, Kundapur

The rains coupled with gusty winds that lashed across Puttur uprooted electric poles and trees.

Several houses were damaged at Olamogru, Shanthigodu, Narimogru, and Kuriya villages. Agriculture crops including arecanut and cocnut trees were also damaged.

A tree fell on a house belonging to Beepathumma at Olamogru.

A coconut tree fell on a Madrasa building at Dimbri and damaged the furnitures.

Houses belonging to Maimuna, Ithappa Poojary, Dharmanna Baira, Mohammed, Aisamma were damaged in Olamogru. Trees also fell on houses at Parpunja Janata colony.

Around 500 coconut trees and over 5000 arecanut trees were uprooted in Olamogru.

Tiles of the houses were flown and electric poles were damaged, thus disrupting power supply.

Houses belonging to Podiya, Somaru, Thaniyaru, Mudara, Hukra, Vasanth, Chethan and others were damaged in Shanthigodu.

About eight electric poles were uprooted at Pajirodi SC colony.

A tree fell on electric wire at Gadappila, and disrupted movement of vehicles on Puttur-Kaniyur road. A huge tree fell on a road at Purushara Katte.

In Kundapura

Heavy rains that lashed across Kundapur on Saturday night threw normal life out of gear. The electricity and telephone connections were disrupted in many villages.

The waste filled drains has created artificial flood in the region. Parijatha Circle had turned into a mini swimming pool and the pedestrians were seen seraching for alternative routes to walk.

The dumping of debris on the road has disrupted the easy flow of water.

Owing to incomplete service roads as a part of widening of national highway, rainwater has remained stagnated on the road.

The town went without power supply in the night.

Two houses were damaged following gusty wind at Shishila.

The houses belong to Kalappa Gowda and Sulochana Patak. Several arecanut, rubber trees were uprooted.
