Bike-borne youth on chain-snatching spree

Motorcycle-borne youth snatched gold chains worth Rs 6 lakh from three women in as many incidents on Sunday.

Navamma, a resident of Gururaj Layout, was watering the plants at 7 am when two unidentified miscreants made away with her gold chain weighing 80 gm, worth Rs 3 lakh.The miscreants had parked their bike a few metres away and sped away after snatching the chain, according to HAL police.

Second case

In another incident, Ashwathalakshmi, a resident of Sadanand Nagar in Baiyappanahalli police limits, was returning home after dropping off her child at a nearby school, when two miscreants on a bike snatched away her gold chain weighing 35 gm worth Rs 1 lakh.

Another woman was robbed off her gold chain in the Vijayanagar police limits. The victim, Alamelu, a resident of Pipeline Road, was standing near the house gate when two unidentified men made away with her gold chain worth about Rs 2 lakh, the police said.She raised an alarm but the miscreants sped away, the police said.

“It is suspected that the same miscreants are involved in HAL and Baiyappanahalli chain-snatching incidents. It must be the work of habitual offenders. We are trying to trace the culprits,” a police officer said.
