'Funds for Yuvajanotsava will be raised to Rs 10 lakh'

Addressing the valedictory of a State-level Yuvajanotsava here, he said the government is giving only Rs 6 lakh per Yuvajanotsava as on now.

“The young talents of the State have not only introduced the pride of the land in foreign countries but also retained their identity,” he said.

The State sends at least 70 talented to the national-level youth festivals as a recognition to their achievements. The women’s Veeragase team of Lingadahalli in Tarikere has been permitted to take part in the national youth festival to be held at Bhuvaneshwar in Orissa, though it will not be competing in any events, he said.

The Minister congratulated MLA D S Suresh for organising the Yuvajanotsava in a systematic manner.

Minister for Women and Child Welfare Narendraswamy, who distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions, said the government has implemented various schemes for the empowerment of women.

The government will be giving subsidy to open separate market space for women in each district, he informed.

MLA D S Suresh said the the event is successful beyond all expectations. Though it was late night on Thursday when curtains down for the programme, people actively took part in all activities. The cracker show and Information Department’s laser show enthralled the spectators.
