It showcased products and solutions tailor-made for the Asian and Indian market.

Continental said on Wednesday that it will introduce a range of low-cost auto parts for small cars in order to tap the growing demand in the volume-driven segment. “India is one of the prominent markets for small cars and hence is our focus in the segment. These low-cost components have been reduced in size, which has led to reduction in cost,” Continental Automotive India Managing Director Claude d’Gamarose said.

The company would be supplying components like electronic control unit (ECU) and immobilisers, he added. Continental Automotive, which has put in Rs 400 crore in its India operations since 2007, is undergoing an overall capacity expansion exercise at its Bangalore facility.

To showcase its comprehensive know-how Continental displayed a demo car ‘IDOL’ at the Expo. To enhance functionality of the vehicle, IDOL was equipped with a new instrument cluster with features for an optimized Human-Machine Interface (HMI) by touch screen and voice recognition.
