DDPI warns schools against holding interviews

Warns of penalty to the tune of Rs 50,000 for violations

The office of Deputy Director of Public Instruction has warned of initiating stringent action against  schools conducting interviews of students or parents for admission. The first time offence will be dealt with a fine of Rs 25,000 and the repeated offence- Rs 50,000 fine.

To ensure transparency in the school admissions for academic year 2015-16 the managements have been hereby instructed to announce the list of available seats and admission schedule on March 2 and distribute the applications from March 21. The last date to submit the application is March 31. The list of eligible merit students and ineligible students along with the reasons, should be announced on April 4. The last date for the public to file objections, if any, is April 7.

The schools should announce the first list of eligible students for admission on April 8 and give time till April 15 for admission. The second list should be announced on April 16 and deadline to admit the students till April 22.

To enable students under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, unaided schools should go by the instructions of the Education department to fill 25 per cent of the seats under the said law, while the remaining 75 per cent of the seats should be filled as per the by-law of the management.  The students under general category should be selected in the presence of their parents through a lottery system. The tuition fee should be collected in accordance with the stipulated rules and should be announced both in the school and also the prospectus and also on its website. Barring the development fee, no other types of fee should be collected from the students belonging to SC, ST and group-01. If the schools are found collecting capitation fee, they will be fined 10 times of the capitation fee, as fine.

For applications, maximum of Rs five can be collected, Rs 20 for prospectus and Rs 25 for transfer certificate, entering the marks, study certificate, conduct certificate and other types of necessary certificates.
