City-based band to perform in Singapore

Bengaluru-based Post Rock and Post Metal band – Space Behind the Yellow Room – has got a ticket straight to success and Singapore after winning the Pepsi Unbox nationwide Talent Hunt. 

 The band will be performing live on Saturday at Music Matters Live 2015, a four-night international independent music festival, the only one of its kind in Asia.Space Behind the Yellow Room (SBTYR) was selected among the 450 entries that Pepsi Unbox received. Pepsi Unbox, a part of Pepsi’s global Music Accelerator Program, was an online contest conducted in association with Pepsi MTV Indies to select a band to perform at Music Matters in Singapore.

Formed in 2012, Space Behind the Yellow Room has Shoumik Biswas as the lead vocalist and drummer, Devasheesh Sharma and Nihar Apte on the guitar and Eshaan Sood playing bass. The band released its debut album ‘Conversations that determine a life’ in September 2014 which was well received by critics and listeners. The band has performed at platforms like NH7 Weekender 2013, Converse Road to Rubber Tracks 2014, Control Alt Delete and in several venues across Bengaluru.

Ruchira Jaitly, senior director, marketing, Social Beverages of PepsiCo India, said: “When the judges heard the variations that SBTYR managed to bring to the table, whether with their vocals or with their guitar and bass, they were truly impressed. This global platform at Music Matters will not only give them an opportunity to perform to an international audience, but also equally for them to learn from some of the biggest music icons in the world.”

The band will be one among the many artistes from the Asian music scene performing at the fifth anniversary of the fest in Singapore. They will also be attending the Music Matters conference where music and media icons from VICE, Dailymotion, MTV, YouTube and other such companies will be speaking.
