The victim is Shobha (32) who was married to Suresh Kumar (33) for six months. According to Mohan Kumar, a relative of Shobha, Suresh and his parents, Krishnamurthy-Susheelamma were allegedly harassing Shobha for dowry since the marriage took place. “Shobha was frequently subjected to physical and mental torture by her in-laws and Suresh wanted to remarry,” he said.
According to police, Suresh strangled Shobha to death around 4:30 am on Monday, His parents were not home and were visiting their daughter in Nelamangala. Suresh had left a letter confessing to the crime, police said.
According to reports, the couple quarreled often as Shobha reportedly doubted her husband’s fidelity and the latter harassed her for dowry.
According to police, Suresh was in hiding in Andhra Pradesh and will be arrested in a couple of days.
