A man, working as a housekeeper in a hotel, was allegedly murdered by his live-in partner and her 16-year-old son at their home in South Delhi’s Sarojini Nagar late Saturday night.

Both the accused have been arrested on Sunday evening, police said.
Santosh, 25, was living with 34-year-old Usha and her four children in her house in Sarojini Nagar for the last three years. Usha’s husband, who works as a sweeper in Gurgaon rarely visits his family.

“On Saturday night, when Santosh returned home heavily drunk, he asked Usha to serve him dinner. The woman was sleeping when Santosh entered the house. She got irritated at the request and rebuked him for arriving late and asking for food,” said a police officer investigating the case.

“Santosh, who was not in his senses got incensed after listening to the harsh words coming from his live-in partner and started yelling at her in front of her children. This got Usha’s eldest son very angry and they started fighting with each
other,” the officer added.

After some time the 16-year-old youth, with the help of his mother, pinned Santosh down and held his neck with his hand. He then strangulated Santosh after which both fled from the house, police said.

Santosh met Usha around four years back. He used to work in a house in Sarojini Nagar where Usha was also working. Gradually, they came closer and after some time started living together.

Initially, Usha’s husband objected to the presence of Santosh in his house but Usha told him that she would not let Santosh leave the house. After that her husband left the house and started living in Gurgaon, said police.

Santosh was living happily with Usha and her children, but after some time friction emerged in their relationship as Santosh was a drunkard and used to abuse Usha in front of her children, police said.

Police have registered a case of murder under section 302 of IPC and are interrogating the mother-son duo.

Neighbours and other three children of Usha are also being questioned to find out more about the incident.
