BJP accuses Ratnakar of violating model code of conduct

The BJP on Friday submitted a complaint to the State Election Commission (SEC) accusing Minister of State for Primary and Secondary Education Kimmanne Ratnakar of violating the model code of conduct which is in place for the taluk and zilla panchayat elections by announcing that the State government would announce the selection list of 9,500 teachers soon.

In the complaint submitted to State Election Commissioner P N Srinivasac­ha­ri, BJP leaders Dattaguru Hegde, S Prakash and Mal­av­ika Avinash stated that Ratnakar had announced at a public function that the selection list of 9,500 teachers on the websitewww.schooleducation.kar.nic.in

The BJP leaders stated that the minister had also announced that the government would provide shoes and socks to students studying in government schools soon. Both the announcements amounted to violation of the model code of conduct, the complaint stated and sought suitable action against the minister.

SEC sources said they were looking into the complaint. Interestingly, the selection list hosted on the website has now been delinked by the Education department.
