Two software companies — Symbiosis and Unitech Ltd — and a real estate firm, Goel Residency, have reportedly encroached upon three acres and 32 guntas of lake land at Veerasandra village in Anekal taluk.
Bengaluru Urban district authorities on Thursday demolished portions of their compound walls and served them a notice to evict the area.
Assistant Commissioner of Bengaluru South subdivision, L C Nagaraj, said that Symbiosis had bought nearly 30 guntas of “lake land” from a politician.
“Veerasandra lake in survey number 99 is spread over 14 acres and two guntas.
Concrete buildings housing two software companies have come up on three acres and 32 guntas while the road has been built on the remaining three acres. Rest of the land is what is left with the us (district administration),” Nagaraj said.
The crackdown sent shock waves across the management and staff of the two firms who were requesting the authorities for more time.
Nagaraj said the firms were headquartered in Pune and their senior representatives would arrive in Bengaluru on Friday and meet him on Saturday.
