Staff from other depts to be retained for PU evaluation

The state government has decided to utilise the services of 2,600 personnel deputed from other departments for PU evaluation, even though the lecturers called of their strike on Tuesday.

“ They will continue to work so as to expedite evaluation and help in making up for the lost time,” said Ajay Seth, Principal Secretary, Department of Primary and Secondary Education. These personnel include unaided lecturers, staff from Department of State Education Research and Training (DSERT), Department of Pre-University Education (DPUE) etc. This was part of the alternative plan of the government to begin evaluation. 

Meanwhile, decoding and evaluation work at various centers in the state continued at a gradual pace on Tuesday. Ramegowda, Director, Department of Pre-University Education said that the work was on the verge of completion in at least 20 centers, a majority of them in Bengaluru.

As many as 125 personnel appeared for coding and decoding work at an evaluation centre in Seshadripuram PU College. “We have nearly finished the work and will hopefully start the evaluation on Wednesday,” said a source from the college.

At the mathematics evaluation center at St Ann’s PU College, as many as 50 people reported for their coding and decoding duties and according to staff at the college, the work is on the verge of being competed. 

In NMKRV College, around 70% of work had already been completed and evaluation is set to begin on Wednesday, according to sources.
