Traffic diversions for Karaga fete

The police have imposed traffic restrictions and diversions on the occasion of the Dharmaraya Swamy temple Karaga procession which will begin on Friday midnight and conclude in the early hours of Saturday.

The procession will go through Nagrathpet, Cubbonpet, Halasurupet, Ganigarpet, Avenue Road, City Market Circle, Police Road, Rani Singhpet, Akkipet, Balepet, KG Road and surrounding areas. 

As a large number of devotees are expected to witness the Karaga and participate in the procession, vehicles in these areas have been banned.

Vehicles will be restricted from City Market Circle to Mysore Bank Circle via Avenue Road. Commuters can use SJP Road- Town Hall- KG Road. When the procession enters Avenue Road, vehicles will be restricted from Arcot Srinivasachar Street to City Market Circle. Commuters can take a right at Briand Square Circle to reach T M C Royan Circle.

Vehicles coming from Mysuru Road towards Briand Square Circle can take a right near Royan Circle and Prof Shivashankar Rao Circle to reach JC Road. When the procession reaches City Market through Police Road, vehicles going from B V K Iyengar Road towards Mysuru Road will be stopped at Chickpet circle till the Karaga passes. 

After the Karaga passes through Police Road, vehicles can move through Arcot Srinivasachar Street. When the procession reaches Cottonpet main road from Haralepet and enters Akkipet main road, vehicles coming from Cottonpet main road will be diverted near Shanthala Circle.

Commuters can go through Devaraj Urs (Khoday’s Circle)- Vatal Nagaraj Road - Binny Mill Road and reach Mysuru Road. Vehicles going towards Royan Circle Road, Binny Mill Road junction, Cottonpet main road will be banned and they can go through Royan Road- Shanthala Circle and proceed further.

Vehicles from Mysore Bank Circle on KG Road will be restricted till the procession from Balepet Main Road reaches Kilari Road. On April 23 after 3 pm, vehicles will be banned from Shanthala Circle to Cottonpet main road, as the chariots will be taken out in a procession. 

Instead, vehicles coming towards Shanthala Circle can go towards Devaraj Urs Circle – Vatal Nagaraj Road – Mysuru division road – Binny Mill Road – Mysuru Road.

Parking sites
Motorists can park their vehicles at: BBMP parking lot on JC Road; Kempegowda Maharaja parking complex on KG Road; Kempegowda parking complex on Mamulpet Main Road and in the parking lot at Kempegowda bus station. 

The BMTC will operate special bus services for Karaga from Majestic, Market and Shivajinagar for commuters.
