Saeed Anwar rejects PCB chief selector's post

"I was offered the post of chief selector but I told the PCB chairman that I could not take up the job as I don't think I would be able to do justice to the position," Anwar said.
"But I have told him that I do want to help the Pakistan team and I can do this as a batting consultant," said the former Test opener, who retired in 2003 and now spends most of his time in religious preaching.

"I am due to meet the PCB chairman next month and he will tell me in what way I can play a positive role with the Pakistan team. But I personally feel that to be successful in cricket a player needs to be mentally tough and should possess a big heart," he added.

Saeed said that he was happy to hear that former teammate and fast bowler Waqar Younis is likely to be appointed as the coach of the national team.

"I think it would be a great move because he is well respected and has impressive cricketing background and knowledge of modern day requirements."PCB chief selector's position lies vacant after Iqbal Qasim's resignation following Pakistan's disastrous were tour of Australia, where they were whitewashed in both the Tests as well as the ODI series
