mCarbon to double its headcount

mCarbon, a mobile technology solution innovator based in Noida, is increasing its headcount to 500 from 250 in the next two years. The company has added 100 staff to its board only last year.

Talking to Deccan Herald, Rajesh Razdan, CEO, mCarbon said, “Having present in 14 countries, including South East Asia (SEA) and, Africa and Middle East, we are looking at opening an R&D centre in Bengaluru. At present, we have a development centre in Noida.”  Sharing more details on the R&D centre, he said, “The centre is expected to focus on mobile financial systems and analytics. In the SEA region, we are looking at establishing base in Malaysia and Thailand with presence in Indonesia.”

The company has made a total investment of $10 million since 2008. It has invested about $2 million each in the last three years. It is growing at 40-50%. “We are open for organic as well as inorganic expansion in southern India,” said Razdan. Talking about the businesses outside India operations, he said, “We are targeting at generating $20 million in the next two years. Currently, 90% of the revenue is coming from the local market where we have 20 odd customers and about 50 mobile financial systems.” 

Servicing total base of over 400 million subs across all major telecos in India, mCarbon, a privately held firm, received venture capitalist funding from Canaan Partners in 2009. It has entered into technology partnership with Dialogic, Red Hat, Oracle, Microsoft, HP, IBM, ENEA and Nokia Siemens Networks.
