Govt should not give security to Taslima: Poojary

Take action against those who prompted violence in State
Last Updated 02 March 2010, 17:12 IST

Speaking to presspersons here on Tuesday, he said “her article has hurt the sentiments of the people.”

“It is the duty of the State government to take action against those who prompted violence in the State following the publication of the controversial article in Kannada daily. Every citizen has the right to protest. However, the protest should not turn violent just like the one which took place in Shimoga and Hassan districts.”

He said “people have lost trust with the State government. There is no value for the statement of Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa. He gives different statements at different hours. He does not act according to his speech. The CM has become inactive.”
Poojary said: “The law and order situation in the State is deteriorated. People especially the minorities have a feeling that government is not protecting them. The attack on minority institutions have become a common affair. Muslims are oppressed in several places. In some places, even Hindus are oppressed.”

The BJP government is creating fear in the minds of the people, he said and urged the Chief Minister to tell Sangh Parivar members to maintain peace and harmony in the society as their own government is ruling the state, he said. Poojary called upon the CM not to get angry on those who give suggestions to him.
If the State government had taken action against the culprits soon after the church attack, no violence could have taken place in the State. “You acted as a Sangh Parivar CM,” he told the CM.

Coming down heavily for not conducting BBMP elections, he said “government has become inactive and has violated the verdict of High Court and Supreme Court on BBMP elections. The government is trying to kill the democratic set up. “The man who has come to power in the name of farmers by wearing green shawl has done injustice to the farmers by acquiring fertile land.”
