Teen kills 4-year-old to attain occult powers

The deceased child was incidentally a neighbour of the alleged culprit, police said here on Friday. The culprit’s parents were currently lodged in jail on the charge of killing a child.

According to the police, the teenaged girl took away the child to her house where she allegedly strangled him on Thursday. The family of the victim later discovered his body from a gunnybbag lying in the house. A red cloth was tied to the neck of the body and some other articles used in ‘puja’ were there.

Enraged over the incident, the villagers brutally thrashed the “tantrik girl” who could be rescued only by the police after much effort. The “tantrik girl” had been admitted to hospital for treatment, police added.

The culprit apparently came from a family of “tantriks” and her parents were jailed for allegedly killing a child from their own village for attaining “occult powers” in January this year, police said.
