The Peenya police, on Friday, arrested a 22-year-old woman who, with the help of her lover, murdered her husband in cold blood. The suspect, Vinutha, had hoped to reunite with her boyfriend after her husband’s death, the police said.

Varadaraju was found dead with his throat slit at his house in Peenya on Monday night. Varadaraju, who runs a photo studio, married Vinutha six years ago. The couple have a four-year-old child who was living with Varadaraju's parents in Mysuru, the police said.

The police suspected that Vinutha could be involved in her husband’s murder. They kept a watch on her and verified her mobile phone call records. Based on that information, they picked up Shashi Kumar, a private firm employee from Mysuru and he confessed to the crime.

Investigation revealed that Vinutha had an affair with her childhood friend Kumar, who had even approached her parents for her hand in marriage. But her parents objected to their affair and married her off to Varadaraju. However, Kumar continued to have an affair with Vinutha even after her marriage. Varadaraju, who recently found out about the affair, quarrelled with Vinutha and humiliated her, the police said.

Enraged, Vinutha decided to eliminate Varadaraju and conspired with Kumar. As per their plan, Vinutha left home on the pretext of buying groceries as soon as Varadaraju came home. Kumar had promised his friends Vikas (22), K Raghu (21) and a juvenile boy that he would pay them Rs 1.5 lakh after Varadaraju was bumped off. The trio, on Monday, barged into the house and killed Varadaraju by slitting his throat. The police have recovered a motorcycle and weapons used for the murder.
