For the students, mixed feelings of bidding adieu to what was their every day routine and the nervous anticipation of stepping into a brave new world had an element of genuineness about them.

The students had rightly chosen two alumni to speak to them on the occasion. One was Nirmala Ponappa, a world champion athlete and Malini Shankar, who overcame all odds despite a fatal accident which left her left arm dysfunctional. Nirmala pointed out that the skills required in every profession is the same. “It matters how you gather the skills and use them in the right way,” said Nirmala.

The ceremony did have its dose of long speeches and entertainment. The Indian Music Association consisting of the passing out batch sang and the Western dance association did a free-flowing quick jig. The list of the new student government was also announced.  The seniors couldn’t stop raving about the memorable, joyous years they spent at college. Gifts were exchanged and slam books were passed around for some last minute wishes. Said Ashwini Rajkumar, a final year arts student, “It’s not going to be the same anymore. It’s a tough world out there and one may have to battle it out alone.”

Sandhya, a final year science student and her batchmates have planned a trip across five cities in the country. “It will be memorable to travel together and spend some quality time,” she signed off.
