A 16-year-old boy drowned in Chinnappanahalli lake near HAL on Sunday afternoon. The deceased is Sunil (16), a Class 10 student of government high school at Doddanekkundi.
According to the police, Sunil, along with six friends, went to the lake around 12.30 pm for swimming. He swam into middle of the lake and got stuck there. He screamed at his friends to rescue him. His friends cried for help, but nobody was around.
Later, passersby noticed the boys shouting and rushed there. However, Sunil had drowned by then. The fire personnel conducted a five-hour operation and retrieved the body by 6 pm.
