Meti scandal: CID questions Murugesh Nirani

The CID on Friday questioned former industries minister Murugesh Nirani in connection with the sex scandal involving Congress MLA and former minister H Y Meti.

“There were reports that Nirani had sought Meti’s help for the smooth functioning of his liquor manufacturing unit at Mudhol in Bagalkot district. Nirani used Subhash Mughalkhod for the honey trap as Meti had refused to help him,” said a senior officer. Nirani admitted to knowing Mughalkhod who claimed to possess the CD. Nirani had requested him not to release the CD as it would defame Meti, the officer said, quoting Nirani. The questioning lasted for over two hours.

The CID has not questioned the woman in the video clip as it had not been able to identify her. Her face is not visible in the video. The CID will file a report in a week, the officer added.
