A CCTV camera footage showing the two accused, Vikas Barala and his accomplice Ashish, buying liquor from an outlet in Sector 9 Chandigarh has surfaced in the high profile Varnika Kundu stalking and attempted abduction case.

The footage shows the accusing walking in and out of the shop to buy liquor. Both have admitted to have consumed beer that night when the incident took. The counsel of the accused, Surya Prakash, claims that his clients did not stalk Varika leave aside an allegations of attempted abduction. He has said that at the time the police rounded up the two suspects that night, there was no woman present.

The two-day police remand of the two accused ends on Saturday, which is when they will be produced before the court. It remains to be seen whether or not the police seeks to extend their police remand for another few days. The police today took the two accused at the scene of crime and reconstructed the entire sequence of events as it happened.

Meanwhile, after CM Khattar, his cabinet colleagues including outspoken minister Anil Vij have now come out in defence of the state BJP President Subhash Barala whose son Vikas is current behind bars. Vij said there is just no justification to seek the resignation of the state BJP chief as he is in no way involved in the incident. The two accused were booked and re-arrested a couple of days ago under non-bailable sections of attempted abduction in the Varnika stalking case.
