Legislator Capt Ganesh Karnik said no proper facilities are available for artists to showcase their talents in the coastal region.

He was speaking after inaugurating an exhibition of recent works by 30 artists held as part of silver jubilee celebrations of Artists' Forum Udupi at S Cube Art Gallery here on Saturday.

Capt Karnik said the coastal region has several artists of international repute and standard.

Stating that an artist explains his artwork through colours, Capt Karnik said that an artist has the capacity to unravel a world that no one has seen.

He also called upon the artists to exert pressure on the government to set up an art gallery in Mangaluru.
