Singh, who owned a welding business in Kamakshipalya, was involved in a real estate dealing with Thyagaraj of Malleshpalya in 2007.  Singh is said to have suspected his wife Padma alias Padmavathi (29) of having an affair with Thyagaraj and is said to have aired his suspicision to Vinuthana, wife of Thyagaraj. Vinuthana ended her life.  The episode also broke the business relationship between the two.

Seeking revenge, Thyagaraj met Padma and her mother Lakshmamma who had her own axe to grind against Singh. Apparently, Singh had lent his mother-in-law money to construct a building on a site she owned in K R Puram.

Singh asked his mother-in-law to return the money, which she apparently refused. Singh reportedly threatened to murder Lakshmamma and when his wife took her mother’s side, her too.  Padma and Lakshmamma then conspired with Thyagaraj to get Singh killed. Thyagaraj was to be paid Rs 50,000 for the contract murder.

Thyagaraj then hired two casual labourers, Narasimha and Nagaraj for the job.  On April 5, according to police, the two men took Singh to an isolated spot near a lake near Mahadevapura on the Ring Road and bludgeoned him to death. Police found the body a day later.

Based on a case filed by Ramchandra Singh’s brother Ramesh, the Mahadevpura Police on April 13 arrested the three conspirators. They are looking for Narasimha and Nagaraj.
