Who is BSY to speak on Mahadayi, asks Siddaramaiah

Last Updated 21 December 2017, 18:51 IST

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Thursday that BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa was making political statements on resolving the Mahadayi issue, but it would not serve the purpose till the Goa government writes to the Karnataka government in this regard and files an affidavit before the Mahadayi Tribunal.

Speaking to mediapersons on his arrival at Gokak in the district, Siddaramaiah said when he took a delegation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to hold discussions on the issue, the latter refused to mediate.

"The state BJP leaders did not utter a word, but now they are claiming they will resolve the issue, ahead of the Assembly elections," the chief minister said.

"Who is Yeddyurappa to speak on the Mahadayi issue? Moreover, Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had not reacted after the meeting chaired by BJP president Amit Shah. The issue could get resolved only when the three stakeholder states meet and discuss the issue," he said.

The BJP leaders were only politicising the issue to get undue political mileage ahead of the elections, Siddaramaiah said.
