Horatti challenges Dingaleshwar Swamiji

MLC Basavaraj Horatti has challenged Sri Dingaleshwar Swamiji of Balehosur to prove that Veerashaiva and Lingayat are same, based on documents, during the debate scheduled at Moorusaviramutt here on Saturday (December 30) at 11:00 am.

During his visit to Moorusaviramutt here on Thursday, to inspect the place for the debate, he told media persons that a closed-door debate would be arranged, and he also wants Sri Gurusiddha Rajayogindra Swamiji to take part in it.

"I will bring five people for the debate, and Sri Dingaleshwar Swamiji should also do the same. Sri Nijagunananda Swamiji, Dr Ramjan Darga, Dr Veeranna Rajur, Dr Mahadevappa and Vishwaradhya Satyampet will accompany me in the debate. All happenings would be videographed. As for the protection sought by the Swamiji, I cannot give protection to him, but the police have been requested to arrange security," Mr Horatti added.

'No need for debate'

Meanwhile, Sri Basavajayamruthyunjaya Swamiji of Koodalasangam opined that a senior leader like Mr Horatti should not have taken steps to hold debate with Sri Dingaleshwar Swamiji, who is a 'small seer', that too even before the expert committee appointed by the minority commission, submits its report on Lingayat issue.

He told media persons here on Thursday that Mr Horatti should have discussed with scholarly seers of Veerashaiva or Hindu faith. Sri Dingaleshwar Swamiji is also from Virakta tradition, he knows the truth, and there was no need to hold debate with him, the seer added.
