Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner M N Nagaraj has denied permission to the Muru Savira Mutt that had sought permission to host a 'Satya Darshana' conclave in the city on December 30.
The mutt's seer Guru Siddaraja Yogindra Swamiji has stated that the permission was denied, in writing.
The police have received intelligence reports that holding the conclave can lead to law and order problems in the city and hence the denial of permission.
Talking to reporters, the commissioner also said that he has even passed an order against people assembling in front of the mutt in large numbers.
