Pourakarmikas' 4th batch heads for Singapore

Pourakarmikas are set to visit Singapore to learn the secret behind the island country's exemplary cleanliness.

This will be the 11th batch of pourakarmikas from the city and districts to head to Singapore. Their four-day stay from Tuesday will help them understand the practices adopted there for promoting and maintaining cleanliness.

There are 40 pourakarmikas in the batch. They will learn about waste collection, treatment process, transport methods, general waste and segregation methods including segregation of inorganic, recyclable and organic waste and handling sanitary waste.

The workers will also learn to manage sludge from water treatment plants, sewage treatment plants, septic tanks and other types of sewage systems.

The presentation and explanation will be done by Divya and Sarika Saluja, Project Manager, WTO, India.
