Sisters duped of Rs 3L by IT firm, lodge complaint

Two software engineers have filed a cheating complaint with the Whitefield police against an IT firm, which duped them of Rs 3 lakh on the pretext of landing them jobs.

The victims, Arpitha Hegde and her sister Poojitha Hegde are computer engineering graduates who were hunting for jobs.  That is when they were approached by a woman, Neha, belonging to a private IT firm. She offered them jobs in November 2017.

The sisters met the company executives in Whitefield for their interviews. On clearing the interviews, the company executives demanded Rs three lakh from the duo as a surety and offered them jobs as software developers.

According to their complaint, the accused had even fixed the salary of Rs 18,000 per month for a probation period of three months.

They were assured that their salary would be revised to Rs 30,000 after probationary period was completed.

However, one month after their joining, the company announced that they were shifting their base to Noida and asked them to relocate. When the duo refused to relocate and demanded their money back, the company refused, citing its policies. Later, the sisters filed a cheating complaint with the Whitefield police.

In their complaint, they also alleged that the company had shut its business down a few days ago and the executives were incommunicado.

Police have taken up a case of cheating against the company and are investigating.
