Budding cartoonists imbibe basics

Among the budding cartoonists was Kashyap, a software engineer from Patni computers. He says drawing is his hobby especially cartoons and caricature which also has some human touch to it. Kashyap has created mixed caricatures of cartoons and humans. He is planning to display it and send his creation to the right places for recognition.
Besides Kashyap, there were three other software engineers Anand, Danish and Bhagya. Anand an employee from Accenture attended the workshop to know the basics in cartoon making.

 "I used to draw as it was my hobby.  I wanted to know the basics and know how professionals actually draw caricatures," he said.  Danish, an employee of Wipro has just developed interest and is busy drawing on walls, however for Bhagya, who is equally interested does not think that cartooning can be taken up as a serious job.
Apart from these individuals, there were journalism students from Jain College.  Greeshma, a student wants to take up cartooning as a serious profession, but she feels that she is not good enough. 

"I can draw basic cartoon characters, but when it comes to depicting any incident or a person, I still an amateur," she said.

However, Rebecca Taylor, a student from Chitrakala Parishat says she just loves to play with her brush.  "I used to draw in college and usually made caricature of my lecturers if the class was boring. I did learn drawing at my college and realised my talent after winning a national level award," she said.

Rebecca has won the "Maya Kamat Memorial Award" for the best budding cartoonist for excellence in cartooning on April 22.  This award will be presented to her on June 18.  She had earlier won the "Jury appreciation for International caricature" for here caricature of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
