“The question of the JD(S) having an alliance with the BJP does not arise. We are only watching the drama being staged by the BJP and the Congress. People have voted us to sit in the Opposition and we will obey people’s verdict,” JD(S) floor leader H D Revanna said.
Neither JD(S) chief H D Deve Gowda nor the State party chief H D Kumaraswamy was available for comments. It is speculated that BJP MLC V Somanna, who was a close associate of Gowda, has been in touch with the JD(S) leaders.

Reiterated

However,  State BJP President K S Eshwarappa has reiterated that party is willing to join hands with JD(S) or any other political party to “foil the bid of Congress leaders to topple the State Government.”

“The BJP government in the State will complete its full term under Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa. However if situation warrants, the party is ready for a truck with any non-Congress political party,” he told mediapersons in Shimoga.

When quizzed on JD(S) reneging on its promise to transfer power during the previous coalition rule, he said that the betrayal proved beneficial for BJP due to which party could come to power on its own.

“Many regional political parties have become victims of the opportunist politics of Congress in the past. Congress leaders took the cooperation of JD(S) while staging dharna in the Assembly, but decided to go alone for the padayatra against the State Government,” he said. He alleged that Congress leaders have hatched a conspiracy to disturb law and order during padayatra.
