Love drove her to kill husband

They have also arrested three others, said to be Shivakumar’s friends. The couple married six years ago, and have two children. But Nagaveni fell in love with Shivakumar during her bus rides to her work place.

Soon, the relationship between Nagaveni and Shivakumar became so strong, that they decided to kill Cheluvaraju, when the latter began objecting to their dalliance.

On May 2, a tired Cheuluvaraju had returned home from work and went to sleep. His wife invited Shivakumar and the two allegedly smothered him to death using a pillow.

Later, they took the help of Shivakumar’s friends - Venugopal, Sreedhar and Mahalinga to shift the body and bury it next to their house in Ghantakanadoddi.

Although the crime took place on May 2, Nagavaveni along with the deceased mother lodged a missing complaint only on August 17.

Police swung into action and began investigating. They found that Nagaveni was close to Shivakumar and the two were seen together often. The two were summoned to the police station. Under questioning, they came up with contradicting statements that failed to reconcile. Nagaveni broke down and confessed to the murder. The police took permission from the court and exhumed the body and collected vital evidence required to nail the culprits.

Mystery death

Ramu (23), died under mysterious circumstances in Hebbal locality on Sunday. According to Ramu’s father, his son landed home soaked in blood around 9.30 pm. The youth was rushed to hospital where he died after being admitted.

Biker dies

Prashanth (20), an electrician died after a tractor rammed into the motorbike he was riding on Kamanahalli 100 feet Road in Banaswadi on Sunday night.

Found hanging

Shiva Prasad (24), employed in a hotel was found dead, hanging from a roadside tree near Sudarshan park in Thilak Nagar on Monday. Morning walkers saw the body hanging from the tree and alerted the police.

Pendrive sellers held

Two persons arrested for selling fake pen drivers in the city on Monday. The Kalasipalya police gave the name of the accused as Ershad Mallik (22), a resident of Nehru Vihar, Delhi and Mohammed Shameem alias Abdul Hameed (25) from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. Police have also seized 280 fake pen drives of reputed brands were seized.

House burgled

Burglars targeted a house in Gurappanapalya in Bhuvaneshwari Nagar and decamped with Rs 3.5 lakh cash and around Rs 1.2 lakh worth gold ornaments.

Seven arrested

The Vijayanagar police have arrested seven suspects in connection with the murder of 22-year-old Sanjay, who was hacked to death on August 16.

Dayanand, Dasarahalli Vishwa, Dananjay, Naraju, Raghu, Murali and Harsha are the arrested. Sanjay was brutally attacked near Uday Bhaskar school on August 15. He died the next day.

Gang rivalry was the main reason for the murder. Sanjay was involved in extortion racket and this led to his killing, police said.
