AKKA organisers bungled: Prasad

Torch bearers of our culture had to face humiliation in a foreign land

He was speaking to the press persons in Hassan after felicitating teachers, at an event organised by Vachana Sahitya Parishat.

“Torch bearers of our culture, our artistes and invitees have had to go through a lot of humiliation in a foreign land. AKKA organisers should have ensured they were treated decently, making proper arrangements for food and accommodation,” he said.

Though it is beyond the purview of Kannada Sahitya Parishat to direct the organisers about treating their guests right, the organisers should have paid attention to some basic formalities and necessities since they were given Rs one crore by the state government, he added.

“They should have been courteous enough to extend an invitation to Kannada Sahitya Parishat, owing to the fact that this is a representative body of five crore Kannadigas. “It does not matter who is the chairperson here. They should have respected the position and the organisation,” he added.

Referring to the upcoming Sahitya Sammelana scheduled to be held in December in Bangalore after a gap of 40 years, Prasad said persons with expertise in IT/BT fields would be roped in for arrangements. “There are plans to organise a discussion around the topics.
This discussion would enable us to find solutions to technical hiccups in Kannada software,” he said.

Parishat has re-printed eight editions of Kannada-Kannada dictionary and this would be released at the end of September or beginning of October.
