The forest watchers who arrived in the village at midnight, reportedly asked the villagers to show the location of a few dacoits who where hiding.

However, when the villagers denied the presence of dacoits, the forest watchers ransacked the house of Puttamadamma and robbed her of Rs 3,000 cash.
MLA C Puttarangashetty visited the village to take stock of the situation.
Taking the District Forest Officer Ravishankar to task, Puttarangashetty said that the forest watchers have misbehaved with the Girijans.

He said this shows the inefficiency of the ranger in the region.
Puttarangashetty said that he would discuss the issue with the Deputy Commissioner.
Resident of Etthegowdanadoddi, Mahadevamma complained to the MLA that the forest watchers used abusive language and behaved badly with people. She demanded protection from the forest watchers.

Taluk Panchayat member B K Ravikumar, Grama Panchayat president Kumaribai, Member Chennajamma, Taluk Social Welfare Officer Jagadish and others were present.
