CBI misused by BJP for selfish motive, says Rahul

Last Updated 28 April 2018, 04:33 IST

All India Congress Committee president Rahul Gandhi campaigned in Kodagu district on Friday.

He arrived at Gonikoppa at 4 pm and garlanded the statues of Field Marshal Cariappa and General K S Thimayya on Kaveri College premises.

Later, addressing the party workers at Dasara Maidan, he took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP national president Amit Shah and BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi remained silent even after Nirav Modi committed a fraud and fled the country. While making B S Yeddyurappa sit next to him, Modi speaks of corruption. The CBI has been misused for a selfish motive,” he charged.

He said that Modi started the campaign on ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’.

Inspite of it, there is an increase in atrocities against women. Even BJP MLAs are facing the charges of sexual assault. There is no protection for Dalits and women, he claimed.

Speaking of the beautiful nature in Kodagu, he said that he will tour Kodagu after the election.

Chief Minister Siddaramaih said, “Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah is responsible for import of poor quality of black pepper to India.”

Opposition leader of Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge was also present.

As Rahul Gandhi’s convoy was reaching Dasara Maidan, a group of 20 youths raised slogans in favour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They were dispersed later.

Earlier, Congress workers took out a procession on the bypass road in Gonikoppa.
