Charging that Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy is escaping from his pre-election assurance of farmers' loan waiver, MLA Jagadish Shettar observed that neither Kumaraswamy nor Siddaramaiah have a concern about farmers.

"JD(S)-Congress alliance co-ordination committee meeting held on Thursday should have discussed farm loan waiver issue, instead of mere disgruntlement. Farmers' loan waiver was mentioned in JD(S) manifesto, but Kumaraswamy is now awaiting a nod from the Congress. Thus, he once again proved to be a 'betrayer'", he said.

Shettar told media persons here on Friday that Siddaramaiah government reimbursed only a part of the previous loan waiver scheme, and the present government is also neglecting farmers.

On fitness challenge

Commenting on Kumaraswamy's reply to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's fitness challenge, Shettar noted that the 'development fitness' of the State would be damaged due to the disgruntlement and quarrel in the government.

People are not feeling the existence of any government in the State, and officials are not working. Comparatively, Governor's rule might have been better. Kumaraswamy spoke about being ahead in development, and how can he say that in just a15 days after coming to power, that too when the government is full of dissidence, Shettar asked.

We would not try to take advantage of that disgruntlement, but they themselves would quarrel and topple the government, he added.
