Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday, condemned the Income Tax officials’ raid on the premises of Congress party leaders and said that the raids are “politically motivated”.

Speaking to reporters during an election campaign at Ramabai Nagar, under the Chamundeshwari Assembly segment here, Siddaramaiah said, the IT raid against sitting Congress MLA B Shivanna from Anekal (Bengaluru Urban) constituency, also the Congress candidate for the Assembly elections scheduled to be held on May 12, is politically motivated.

“I have no objection to the raids against those who have stacked black money. But, the raid on Congress candidates is condemnable. It is an act to hit the confidence of the winning candidate,” Siddaramaiah said.

It may be mentioned that IT officials had conducted raids against several Congress party leaders in parts of the state on Monday.

In response to the support of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president Asaduddin Owaisi to the JD(S), Siddaramaiah said, it will not have any impact on state politics as the party has no supporters in the state.
