Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan has been summoned to appear before Crime Intelligence Unit of Mumbai Police Crime Branch on Feb 27 to record his statement in a case lodged against actor Kangana Ranaut involving exchange of emails between the two, news agency ANI reported.

In 2016, Kangana and Hrithik slapped each other with legal notices. Kangana claimed they had a relationship and he had promised to marry her.

Hrithik, however, denied it and said they were just work colleagues and also demanded a public apology from the "Queen" star.

Later, Hrithik filed a complaint against an unknown imposter for allegedly speaking to actress Kangana Ranaut on his behalf using an email ID and the case was transferred to the Criminal Intelligence Unit (CIU) in December last year.

In 2016, on the complaint of the actor, a case of cheating by personation (419) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 66C (identity theft) and 66D (cheating by personation using computer resources) of the Information Technology act was registered against an unknown imposter at the Cyber police station in the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC).
