Two army troopers and a militant were killed in an encounter in Pampore area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Thursday.

A police officer said a joint team of the army's 50 Rashtriya Rifles, a special operations group of the state police and paramilitary CRPF, acting on a tip off, cordoned off Samboora area of Pampore.

"As the team intensified the searches and fired some warning shots towards a suspected spot, the hiding militants, believed to be two to three in number, opened fire, triggering an encounter," he said. In the ensuing gunfight, a militant was killed and two armymen received injuries, he said.

On Wednesday, six paramilitary CRPF personnel were injured when militants attacked their vehicle in south Kashmir's Anantnag district.
