<p>Two months ago, the newly wedded bride of a 23-year-old Haryana farmer named Hansraj Kumar was “snatched” away from him in Bihar’s Supaul district, and he claimed that the local police have not taken any action over the matter. Distraught over the inaction of the local police, the farmer has now reached out to the district Superintendent seeking help, <em>The Indian Express</em> <a href="https://indianexpress.com/article/cities/chandigarh/new-bride-snatched-bihar-haryana-farmer-police-9769497/?utm_source=Taboola_Recirculation&utm_medium=RC&utm_campaign=IE&tbref=hp" rel="nofollow">reported</a>.</p><p>The publication, quoting Hansraj’s brother Kuldeep Kumar, said, "We have sent an email to the SP of Supaul on Tuesday."</p><p>Hansraj is from a village named Juglan in Haryana’s Hisar, and many men of this village get married to women from other states, the publication further added.</p>.Bride decamps with cash, jewellery mid-wedding in UP's Gorakhpur.<p>Kuldeep, a panchayat member himself is married to a woman from Bihar’s Madhepura. He also said that their village sarpanch, Aarti Devi, was also from Bihar.</p><p>He further mentioned that a man named Pawan Mandal from Jadia village in Supaul wanted to get his 22-year-old relative married to his brother Hansraj. The report also added that Mandal allegedly also took Rs 7,000 from Kuldeep before the wedding, citing his mother’s treatment, the report added.</p><p>Kuldeep, while sharing the details of the entire fiasco, added, "They brought the girl to Triveniganj town of Supaul district where we approved the marriage proposal. They took Rs 91,600 for the jewellery, clothes and other items for the bride."</p><p>The wedding was held in Koriyapatti village of Supaul district on October 31, 2024, Kuldeep added. He further stated that after the wedding they were taken to an unknown place in a car and then assaulted. </p><p>“They also snatched Rs 30,000 and a mobile phone from us while brandishing weapons,” he added.</p><p>He further told the publication that the group also took the bride away, asking them to leave the place. </p><p>An FIR was lodged at Jadia police station in Supaul district on November 7, Saddam Husain, the Sub-Inspector confirmed.</p><p>Hussian told the publication that four people have been named in the FIR, and the police, after their investigation, have conducted searches to arrest them, however, the accused had already absconded.</p><p>Under provisions of the new BNS laws, the accused have been charged with cheating, theft and extortion, the report further added.</p>
