<p>Chikkamagaluru: A newborn baby was discovered in a coffee plantation near Allampura in Karnataka Thursday.</p><p>The child was reportedly born just two days ago. Upon learning of the situation, locals cared for the baby before handing him over to the Department of Women and Child Welfare.</p> <p>A local, Chandramma heard the baby crying early Thursday morning near her house in the coffee plantation. Initially dismissing it as someone else's child, she went to investigate when the crying persisted.</p> <p>The infant, found without any clothing, was shivering at the base of a coffee plant. Chandramma immediately took the baby to her home to care for him and informed the village Anganwadi. They, in turn, notified the Women and Child Welfare Officer.</p> <p>Officials and members of the Child Welfare Committee arrived with doctors and admitted the baby to a hospital for treatment. The authorities have filed a complaint with the police to locate the parents of the abandoned child.</p> <p>The Department of Women and Child Development stated that once the baby recovers and stabilizes, he will be transferred to an adoption center.</p>
