However, it had to call the action off midway, following a stay order from the court.
A private party running a popular gaming arena on a total 4.20 acres of land, had extended the activity by allegedly encroaching some parts of one acre and 11 gunta belonging to ‘Aramane Kaaval pradesha’, adjacent to it.

Despite several notices served upon by the authorities, the party in question had allegedly ignored, claiming innocence over the issue.

Recently, the Deputy Commissioner’s Court gave a ruling,  ordering for taking the land into possession.

Accordingly, a team of gangmen besides earth moving vehicles raided the disputed site around 11 am.

A pub, restaurant, ticket counter and also a building standing on the said place was removed.

However, the drive ended abruptly around 3 pm, when the manager of the arena armed with an order from High Court arrived.
Sources said, the arena had encroached about 30 guntas of land, leaving another 32 gunta of land vacant.

The value of the land is estimated worth over `one crore.

It’s a second such operation in the recent past.

On Sunday, the authorities reclaimed several acres of land in Jayanagar worth about ` four crore in a similar drive.

Earlier, in the past too, several acres of land have been reclaimed, sending a clear warning to the perpetrators, from not continuing with their illegal activity.

Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta, Tahasildar Manjunath Swamy and other officers supervised the drive.
