The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) on Wednesday stayed the premature transfer of Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer, Prakash Netalkar, by the State government.

Netalkar had moved the tribunal challenging his transfer from Mandya to Madikeri.

Contending that the transfer is in violation of IFS (Cadre) Amendment Rules, 2014, which fix a tenure of two years at a place, the officer submitted that he was posted to the present position only in 2013 and hence sought the transfer to be set aside.

A CAT bench, headed by Judicial Member K G Shantappa, stayed the transfer, saying it was not effected by the competent authority.
