<p>Bengaluru: The Centre has constituted a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the death of five tigers -- mother and four cubs -- at Malai Mahadeshwara WIldlife Sanctuary, coinciding with the Forest Department's own high-level probe into the incident.</p><p>In an office memorandum dated June 26, which was made available on Thursday, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change said that they have constituted a two-member SIT and gave a deadline similar to the one given by the state government to the high-level committee.</p>.Tigers' sample sent to labs; Forest Minister Khandre likely to visit MM Hills sanctuary.<p>The two members are: Harini V, Assistant Inspector General, National Tiger Conservation Authority's regional bureau in Bengaluru and Thenmozhi V, Aisstant Inspector General of Forests, South Region, Wildlife Crime Control Bureau.</p><p>"The team (SIT) shall carry out a detailed investigation into the matter and submit a report within a period of two weeks from the date of the issue of this OM. The state government is requested to extend logistic support and assistance to the investigating team," it said.</p><p>It can be recalled that Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre on Thursday issued an order setting up a six-member investigation team, led by B P Ravi, principal chief conservator of forest (EWPRT&CC) and comprising five others, including wildlife expert Sanjay Gubbi.</p>
