With the expiry of the 10-month term of Dr A V Prasanna, the chairperson of Kolar-Chikkaballapur Milk Producers’ Union Limited (Komul), having ended, Union members are now engaged in discussions to choose his successor.

The Congress-Janata Dal (S) agreement had divided the chairperson's term of 30 months among three contenders, giving each 10 months. Prasanna, a JD(S) member from Malur, was the first office-bearer.

Munivenkatappa, Komul director from Srinivaspur, was chosen for the second term, and Rajgopal from Talagavara in Chintamani taluk was appointed for the third. An oath-taking ceremony had also been organised at the Anjaneyaswamy Temple at Kondarajanahalli on the outskirts of the City.

Waiting for the moment

Prasanna had clarified that he would tender his resignation following the silver jubilee ceremony of Komul and the all-member meeting. But his subsequent failure to submit his resignation has produced discontent among several directors of Komul.

An all-member meeting has been organised in Chikkaballapur on Saturday, September 29. Some directors of Komul are said to have met at a hotel in KR Puram in Bangalore on Saturday night to discuss selection of the new chairperson.
