Former prime minister H D Deve Gowda reiterated on Thursday that the doors were closed for those who had betrayed the party.

Addressing a convention attended by more than 10,000 party workers at the Silver Jubilee Park here, the party supremo said, “I have no wish to become either chief minister or prime minister. I am striving only to save the party ,” he said.

Commenting on the recent statement by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah that he will finish off JD(S), Gowda said the remark by Siddaramaiah, who had grown as a leader in the JD(S), had hurt him. “It is not easy to destroy a party when there are honest party workers,” he said.

Speaking after his felicitation, MLC Basavaraja Horatti said, “Those who were very close to Kumaraswamy have left the party. People like us, who were kept at a distance, have come closer. A few mistakes committed by Kumaraswamy has affected the party’s prospects,” he said.
